How can one individual overachieve and slow the pace of climate change?

By stopping pollution before it happens, or as we like to say at the Clean Air Conservancy: retire pollution permanently. The CAC adds a fourth R to how we protect our environment: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Retire.

What does it mean to retire pollution permanently?

Governments and others are forming markets designed to reduce greenhouse gases, such as CO₂. These markets issue carbon emission reduction credits that allow companies that reduce their emissions to benefit while increasing the cost of polluting to those that don’t.

The CAC actively participates in these pollution markets and currently owns more than 100,000 tons of credits that give companies the right to pump a ton of carbon into the atmosphere. But the CAC doesn’t want those credits used to pollute. That’s why we are selling them to individuals and organizations who can help retire pollution permanently.

When you Buy a Ton or 2 of CO₂ from the CAC, you are actually buying a corresponding amount of credits that the CAC will transfer on your behalf into the Clean Air Conservancy Charitable Trust, where they will be retired permanently. View our Emissions Bank held by the trust.
